Looking Into Humanity

October 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’m cross linking this, because this blog gets a lot more attention.  I’m wondering if anyone would be interested in this project.  Would Anyone Be Willing To Share? It’s an idea that has been with me for a bit now.  I just need to know if the interest is there or not.

Essentially it’s a look at basic human reactions and responces.  It’s going to be broken down into the seven sins (Due to the Sinners & Saints theme). I’ll set up an anonymous email account for it, so anyone who want to do this can just send me an email.  It can be an image, words, whatever you want.

If you know anyone who is interested, feel free to send them a link to this post.

The Sinners & Saints thing, is just basically illustrative of the duality we all have.  Although, if the response calls for it, I can change the set up or what have you.

Hackers, The Computer Revolution, and Generating Something Useful

Talking to a friend recently he was bemoaning cyber life:

There is so much trash, and I mean big heaping pile of crap on the web it seems like anything halfway useful should be lost due to the sheer amount of garbage piled up.  Shifting through it is more of a hassle than it’s worth.

Now, if that isn’t stating the obvious I don’t know what is.

Is there a way to combat the amount of crap so only the useful things will appear?  Maybe even some kind of global blacklist (ha! I know, I know I jest) for the crap flood?

The internet is great in the sense it allows us all to get heard, even if there are some people who shouldn’t be “heard” ever.  Alas, the free for all will be in effect- even for “them”.  Which if that alone lets people who legitimately use their voice, it is a sacrifice that is worthy.  To the degrees, at some point I think we have all wandered across something that inspires us.  Then again, for that one golden piece, there are tenfold that we truly wish we could unsee.

Lately there has been a bit of banter flitting about regarding governmental involvement on the web.  Lieberman is one of the pundits involved. Although his measure failed, I am sure there will be more like it coming into play sooner or later.

Admittedly, I am curious about something.  Namely Anonymous, the “hackers on steroids” that “plague”  of the internet.  (It takes all I have to not laugh a bit at that, mainly the image of a jacked up hacker.)  Considering that for or against them, you have to be a mite bit impressed with the ability to get it together enough to hold the worldwide protests.  Considering the main  dynamic involved, no leadership, yet the group normally known for the goatse managed to hold worldwide demonstrations.

Consider also, for every push to make something more secure more “unbreakable” people will find a way in.  Even CERN wasn’t safe, then again, they thought is was brilliant to have their main hub attached to the ‘net.  Goes to  show, genius doesn’t actually equal common sense.

In all actuality, when push comes to shove- if “whomever” did indeed try to limit the internet.

People will undoubtedly find a way around it.  After all, that is human nature.
